ANA tour to honshu that I took in early April (7
days from 4th April 2009). As you know, Sharon, I travel widely many times a
year and am not prone to complaining. This feedback is given in the hope that
ANA will improve on its tour package for future travellers who have a right to
enjoy their holodays.

These are my comments:

1. Large group size of 40+ resulting in:
a.. Time wasted in assemblying the group at airport, 3 pax were left behind
in Narita without anyone noticing till a headcount was done after our first
sightseeing stop.
b.. Time wasted in loading and unloading of luggage
c.. Time wasted during toilet breaks
d.. Time wasted for table arrangement during meals
e.. Time wasted waiting for the group after the shopping breaks.
f.. Time wasted during hotel check-in/check-outs
I felt that the Japan tour leader and the ANA representative from Singapore were
both not able to manage the group effectively and efficiently.

2. Hotels

I have been on SIA and BA airline holidays. The standards of the hotels
provided for this package were passable but does not equal the standard of
hotels provided by other airlines for their tours. Only the Tokyo hotel was
good.

3. Meals

Whilst I do not expect gourmet or fine dining; the quality of most of the meals
provided were very disappointing; most times we had 2 gueue 4 food, rush with
chinese tourists n the food line was not replenished fast enough, I could feel
the difference in the quality of meals from those of my recent trip to
Hokkaido. In particular we had so looked forward to the advertised Chinese
dinner with Abalone and Lobster and I believe most of us were too polite to
complain about the restaurant we taken to and the very disappointing dinner
that was worse than our local tze cha. I had to sit on a stool; there wasn't
even a proper chair provided although I am a senior citizen. ( Some others had
chairs).

4. Itinery

The itinery could do with more comprehensive and worthwhile sightseeing rather
than waste so much time shopping eg Daiso (very tiny outlet; about one tenth
the size of the Singapore IMM outlet) and the Nishiyu Textile Centre.
The Japan tour guide did not explain much about the sights.

5. Confession

For the first time in my life; I did not tip the Singapore guide as I felt there
was no value add in his escorting us.

All in all; with the exception of the magnifient Cherrry blossoms; the Japan
expereince with ANA was not that memorable nor enjoyable due to the above
factors. I would definitely NOT recommend this tour package to my friends and
relatives.
